Gu Xiao and Su Xia are each secretly sent to impersonate their older siblings during a trial cohabitation arranged by their families before marriage. Neither realizes the other is also a substitute, so both carefully play their roles while trying to hide their true identities. When the marriage arrangement falls apart, they finally drop the act and deliberately reveal their worst sides - only to find themselves even more drawn to each other's real personalities.
