After working herself to death, designer Su Zhi wakes up inside a novel as a doomed fake heiress destined for a miserable ending. Cast out by her adoptive family, she unexpectedly becomes bound to a life-extension system that requires her to stay close to her nominal husband, Huo Wujiu. He appears to be a broke delivery driver, but is actually a powerful man hiding his identity and using their marriage as cover. Neither realizes how much the other is hiding, so the two begin an absurd married life in which both pretend to be poor while secretly pursuing their own agendas. Su Zhi's need to stay physically close to him leads to increasingly chaotic encounters, their secrets begin falling apart one by one, and the two supposed villains repeatedly join forces against everyone scheming around them—until all the pretending turns into something very real. The story is adapted from Gouzhui Dawang's novel of the same name.
